Far-Fetched Friday: Premier League Season Voided, no Trophy for Liverpool

03/13/2020

Welcome back to Far Fetched Friday, where every Friday we give you a bold prediction that we believe will come to fruition. This week our Far Fetched Friday is one that almost every premier league fan wants to see come true.

This Far-Fetched Friday feels a bit strange with no major sports league in play right now due to the Coronavirus. While it has stopped the sports world, it won't stop us from giving you an outlandish sports prediction.

For this Far-Fetched Friday I predict that the English Premier League will void the entire season, meaning Liverpool do not win their first premier league trophy. This may seem like wishful thinking as opposed to realistic thinking, but a cancelation of the premier league season is far more likely than most people assume.

For one, rumor is the Bundesliga is currently working on a provision that would see the same happen in Germany. No champion crowned, just a voided season while the world reacts to the repercussions of the coronavirus. If this were to happen in the premier league season, it would mean that Liverpool does not win a first premier league trophy after all.

The counter argument would be that Liverpool have built such a size-able lead, 25 points with 9 games left, that it would be unfair to cancel the season. However, in technicality, Liverpool have not yet sealed the premier league trophy and there is a chance, no matter how small, that they let this slip (Steven Gerrard style) . . . After all, Liverpool fans will be the first to tell you that a competition is not over until the last whistle, based on their improbable 3 goal comeback in the 2005 Champions League final.

In all fairness, the league should not be voided and Liverpool should be rewarded with a trophy for their outstanding premier league campaign. However, this is a far-fetched prediction, and that prediction is that Liverpool will not be crowned champions for this season, much to the delight of the rest of the premier league.

If you are a United States Men's National Team fan, I have some good news. This is the worst the national team will ever be. I am serious. The talent coming down the pipeline, and more importantly, the systems developing those talents, are increasingly on par with elite global standards.
