Bivol vs. Beterbiev Could Be the Fight of the Year

10/11/2024

On October 12th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dmitry Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) and Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) will face off for the undisputed light heavyweight world championship. This is going to be a big night of boxing with a great undercard to get the show started, with the likes of Jai Opetia, Skye Nicolson, and Ben Whittaker fighting, as well as Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke facing off in a highly anticipated rematch.

But the big talking point is the main event and how different but evenly matched both fighters are.

Bivol's soviet style, marked by seemingly perfect footwork, timing, and punch output, which even future boxing legend Canelo Alvarez could not handle, makes him one of the best and most dangerous boxers on the planet. And for Artur Beterbiev, while his 100% knockout record makes him stand out, it is not just that. It is how he traps you, makes you fight his fight, and ruins your game plan with his forward pressure, which, added to his scary one-punch knockout power, makes him one of the best and most dangerous boxers in the world.

This is a fight between perfect boxing and technique vs relentless pressure and power. This is a fight-of-the-year contender that you will not want to miss. I personally do not have an idea how this fight will play out, that is how 50/50 it is.

All I know is that the winner of this fight will go down as the best light heavyweight of this generation and that this fight could be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.

If you are a United States Men's National Team fan, I have some good news. This is the worst the national team will ever be. I am serious. The talent coming down the pipeline, and more importantly, the systems developing those talents, are increasingly on par with elite global standards.

Guys, I am devastated. I let you all down last year. It was right under my nose that UConn would win the championship, but I missed it due to poor data collection. I began last year's prediction by saying a team with eight losses would win March Madness, and in listing all the teams that qualified, I somehow missed...
