On February 22nd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, we will witness one of the best cards in boxing history, with all seven fights on the card being title fights that would sell out arenas if they were the main event. The 'Last Crescendo' name is fitting for a card that gets more and more intense as the fights go on, with...
Benavidez vs. Morrell Could be Most Violent Fight of the Year
By: Ivan Gallegos
David "El Monstruo" Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) will meet on February 1 in Las Vegas for a fight that many boxing fans are very excited about. This clash is huge because the WBC Light Heavyweight Interim world title is on the line, with the victor having the next shot at the winner of the Dimitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev rematch for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight titles later that month. But that is not the only reason this fight has so many fans excited. The main reason is the dramatic multi-year buildup.

You have Benavidez, who has been chasing the Canelo Alvarez fight for years, calling him out at every chance. Meanwhile, Morrell was building up his career chasing Benavidez, calling him out at every turn, even moving up to the light heavyweight division months after Benavidez did.

With the hunter becoming the hunted, Benavidez eventually relented, giving the fans what they wanted and signing the contract for the fight.
This contest will be very entertaining and violent just due to their styles. Benavidez walks down his opponents with quick and precise combinations that pack a lot of power while also being an elite counterpuncher. Specifically, his high guard block and counter could win him this fight against Morrell.

On the other hand, Morrell is a powerful and aggressive Cuban southpaw who constantly looks to pressure his opponents and land powerful punches. This fight has the making of a Violent Mexican and Cuban war between two fighters who love to apply pressure and land hard and effective shots. Add the hate and vitriol that these two have for each other, and it is a guarantee that this clash will not go to the scorecards. They can't even be near each other without a fight almost breaking out, with Morrell constantly pushing Benavidez's buttons, finding any way to make fun of him or discredit him, and Benavidez promising to break his jaw.

Social Media Has Ended Big Market Teams
It is time to rethink the way we think about sports and marketability. The global popularity of social media has fundamentally changed sports consumption and the idea of market sizes. The phenomenon fueling this belief is LaMelo Ball and what just happened with the NBA All-Star vote.
It felt like no one would ever come close to what Tom Brady did, then Patrick Mahomes happened. And now there are talks that no one will ever come close to what he's done in his first seven seasons, with five Super Bowl appearances in that period. Well, I am here to tell you that Jayden Daniels is about to have a Mahomes-esque run....
It seems the country gets increasingly more divided with each election, but there is one thing we can all agree on- no more podcasts from active professional athletes.
