2025 NFL Mock Draft

04/23/2025

The latest NFL draft is here and Jake is ready to take a swing at the most exciting football event of the year outside of the Super Bowl. Here is the first round mock draft you need ahead of tomorrow night. Bonus: Ranking the Most Important Positions in the NFL Based on Data From the Last Decade.

Round 1, Pick 1 - Travis Hunter, Colorado (CB)

People love to use the word generational nowadays, but Travis Hunter actually describes that. I would lose sleep at night if I was a GM that passed up on a guy that might be the best CB and WR in this class.

Round 1, Pick 2 - Cameron Ward, Miami (QB)

The Browns are screwed regardless honestly. With a billion dollars going to Myles Garrett and DeShaun Watson, I would really need to kill the draft to have a competent roster next season. I know next year's QB class could be better, but I do like Ward enough to get him in the building and wash my hands clean of whatever nonsense happened before.

Round 1, Pick 3 - Mason Graham, Michigan (DI)

I understand that Abdul Carter is the next best consensus prospect on the board, but the idea of Mason Graham next to Dexter Lawrence is too much fun not to try. Plus, I already have Thibs and Burns on the outside. I think this pick would help me develop one of the scariest Dlines to go up against in a division that loves to run the football.

Round 1, Pick 4 - Abdul Carter, Penn State (EDGE)

The Patriots need literally everything, so I am down with taking the best available guy left. I know it is a lazy comparison due to Penn State, but this dude might legit be a Micah Parsons regen.

Round 1, Pick 5 - Will Campbell, LSU (T)

Jaguars just hired Cohen, who had a very successful offense in Tampa Bay. The Bucs last season had one of the best Olines in football, so Cohen should understand why I am taking the best lineman in this class to help construct a line that can win games. Not a flashy pick, but the right one.

Round 1, Pick 6 - Ashton Jeanty, Boise State (HB)

The Raiders had the worst rushing offense in football last season and I honestly don't think it was just down to the line. I actually think they have some decent players on their line, but even if they don't no pick they make here would fix it all at once. Jeanty is incredibly fun and the best running back prospect since Saquon. We can figure out the line later.

Round 1, Pick 7 - Armand Membou, Missouri (T)

The drafted tackle last year, but the Jets could still use another one. The Post-Rodgers Jets are definitely a few years away from being a serious contender. So you can never go wrong with investing in the trenches during a situation like this.

Round 1, Pick 8 - Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona (WR)

I understand the Panthers defense is trash, but their pass catchers are who exactly? Adam Thielen? Tet may not be the most well-rounded receiver in the draft on day 1, but I believe in the Mike Evans/Drake London comps and think this could be such a massive hit for Carolina's offense.

Round 1, Pick 9 - Mykel Williams, Georgia (EDGE)

The Saints are screwed. Derek Carr might be out for the season and their salary cap situation is a disaster. I would be drafting for a long rebuild. So, I would happily take the 20 year old, three year starter from Georgia's defensive line. I don't know in what world this guy would be the #38 ranked prospect.

Round 1, Pick 10 - Josh Simmons, Ohio State (T)

Josh Simmons is coming off of a really tough injury, but if he wasn't he legitimately would've been in #1 pick talks. The Bears invested a lot in their offensive line, but Simmons could be the final piece of the puzzle for Ben Johnson.

Round 1, Pick 11 - Kenneth Grant, Michigan (DI)

The 49ers love to build through the trenches, and the massive athletic Kenneth Grant would definitely be their style to help rebuild a recently depleted front 7. Everyone sees shades of Dexter Lawrence in Grant and I can really see it, too.

Round 1, Pick 12 - Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State (WR)

Emeka Egbuka is a baller. Line him up on the outside or in the slot it really doesn't matter, he'll get buckets regardless. The Cowboys desperately need a #2 receiver to take pressure off of Lamb. This is the perfect guy to go get.

Round 1, Pick 13 - Will Johnson, Michigan (CB)

Jalen Ramsey could be on the move out of Miami, and even if he wasn't, the Dolphins need some big help in the secondary. People are doing that thing they did with Sauce Gardner where they are starting to question Will Johnson's top speed. It is a valid concern, but it didn't stop Sauce Gardner from becoming a great cornerback either.

Round 1, Pick 14 - Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas (T)

People love mocking a TE to Indy, but I think Oline is far more important. With Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, you gotta buy into being a rushing offense and Indy lost some talented guys in the interior of their offensive line this offseason. Banks has the size and power to be one of the best guards in football, plus he could end up being a good tackle, too.

Round 1, Pick 15 - Jahdae Barron, Texas (CB)

The Falcons have been ignoring drafting an edge rusher for years now, so I'll happily keep that tradition going. Barron won the award for best cornerback in college football and Atlanta needs help everywhere.

Round 1, Pick 16 - Jalon Walker, Georgia (LB)

Jason Walker is kind of a weird guy to tell what his best position is because he is kind of small to be an edge rusher but also not the type of athlete to be a LB. However, I think Arizona could be a good landing spot because they just need a talented pass rusher of any kind. I like the upside of this gamble for them.

Round 1, Pick 17 - Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College (EDGE)

The Bengals need help on their defensive line whether they keep Hendrickson or not. Ezeiruaku is a 21 year old that carried Boston College to a winning record last year, plus he is rumored to be an excellent leader. Sign me up for a Bengals defense that has little to no real stars on it.

Round 1, Pick 18 - Grey Zabel, North Dakota State (T)

I am not totally sure how I feel about this, but now with Sam Darnold under center the Seahawks desperately need to build a better Oline. Zabel is a freak athlete that could be extremely dangerous in space during the running game. I like the idea of adding him to their line that was absolutely horrible last season to help Darnold and their talented running back duo.

Round 1, Pick 19 - Jihaad Campbell, Alabama (LB)

Campbell isn't the best player going downhill, but he is a crazy athlete in pass coverage. He would be an awesome apprentice to David in his final seasons.

Round 1, Pick 20 - Tyler Warren, Penn State (TE)

As a reward for making the Broncos competent again, I would give Sean Payton Tyler Warren. You thought he had a fun time in NO with Taysom Hill? The random things he'll try to do with Warren will be ridiculous to watch.

Round 1, Pick 21 - Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (QB)

I don't feel great about this, but the Steelers did nothing about their QB situation this offseason. I refuse to give all of my attention to an unreliable Aaron Rodgers. Sanders falling to us may be our best chance at a franchise QB under this Tomlin tenure.

Round 1, Pick 22 - Colston Loveland, Michigan (TE)

I think Loveland is a cooler prospect than Warren (no bias of course), but this fit with Harbaugh is too easy. The Chargers need another reliable target for Herbert desperately.

Round 1, Pick 23 - Matthew Golden, Texas (WR)

The Packers thought they had a great receiving core, which they kind of do. However, they don't have that guy that can do a little bit of everything. Throw in Matthew Golden who put together some huge performances for Texas last season and the Packers may have their #1 option to combine with Watson and Reed.

Round 1, Pick 24 - Shavon Revel, East Carolina (CB)

I think that scouts might do the same thing with Revel they did last year with Mitchell and write him off due to being from a smaller school. The Vikings need a boost to their aging secondary and Revel is just too fun of an athlete to pass up. It is also really easy to imagine him in Purple and Gold.

Round 1, Pick 25 - Luther Burden III, Missouri (WR)

Diggs is now gone and Tank Dell has suffered multiple large injuries. I know the offensive line is in rough shape, but this is too good of value to pass up on.

Round 1, Pick 26 - Josh Conerly Jr., Oregon (T)

The Rams' tackles got cooked last year like a BBQ. Conerly is the next best guy to take a shot on and try to develop to fill that void. No way he can worse they what they have.

Round 1, Pick 27 - Mike Green, Marshall (EDGE)

Green's incredible bend ability off the edge could be incredibly valuable to a Raven's defense that lacks a passing rushing threat. He only falls this far due to some serious off the field rumors.

Round 1, Pick 28 - Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M (EDGE)

If you look at Stewart's college stats then you won't be blown away. His size and strength make him a very easy guy to find snaps for though and he strikes me as the type of edge the Lions would love on the opposite side of Hutchinson.

Round 1, Pick 29 - James Pearce Jr., Tennessee (EDGE)

James Pearce has some character concerns that I am sure Dan Quinn could figure out and immediately make him one of the better pass rushers in the class.

Round 1, Pick 30 - Walter Nolen, Mississippi (DI)

Nolen has a huge upset due to his athletic talent and I honestly can't believe I still have him on my board. The Bills need help in their interior defensive line anyway.

Round 1, Pick 31 - Donovan Jackson, Ohio State (T)

The Chiefs officially have a depleted offensive line. It was already pretty bad but it just didn't matter cause they had Mahomes. Let's change that with a guard turned tackle that just was the best lineman on a national champion.

Round 1, Pick 32 - Malaki Starks. Georgia (S)

The Eagles don't need anything. Starks to replace a CGJ feels right. I am sure he'll end up wearing a gold jacket now that the Eagles are drafting him.
